Out of Budget, Over Eat
Ok, 1st, I'm going to post this picture. This is what I did for CNY. Red nail polish with glitters. Yup, I know I got ugly toes. That little bump on my 2nd toe is from rubbing against the theatre clogs day in & out. Usually I keep it for 2 weeks before changing design & colour. Well, 1 more week before I worry about cracking my brains for yet another design. :PWhat else is new? I'm broke! Haha! It started off with me paying almost $700 worth of bills, though Jeff got it worse by paying $1k+ which is why I'm helping him out. My own credit card bill is only $300+, of which half is the monthly installment for the furniture. :X 2 more installments & I'm done.
Then, it's time to order stocks for the boys again. Toothpaste, breath spray etc. I'm getting ready to be serious about their oral hygiene. Also, I'm planning to bring the boys for a vet check, starting with Wang Wang. I probably need to spread them out so I don't burn such a big hole in my wallet. Wang is senior now, confirmed by his fur starting to turn white on his face. So I'll get him some blood works & dental treatment if it's not done under GA. That will set me back some $200. Since Dr Heng's appointment list is probably full till a month or 2, I'll have time to set aside some money & maybe be able to bring all in 1 shot. Ton Ton is almost due for a full groom. I'll bring him in 2 weeks to a month's time.
Jeff planned an outing to JB with his colleague & girlfriend next Sat. I don't know how I'm going to spare the extra cash. Then, his birthday is coming in less than a month's time. His parents are planning a trip to Peneng & Malacca. That will cost a bomb I think. How am I going to save $500 this month? It'll even be a miracle not to dip into my savings. The money's always almost gone within the 1st week of getting my salary.
I don't want to resort to doing more calls & exchange the hours of OT for money. It's good coz it's 1.5 times my hourly rate. But I won't be able to accumulate hours & I won't be able to claim time anymore. :( It's good money lah, especially if I do a lot, a lot of calls & can chalk up to 40 hours of OT. I'll probably get another $600 extra just from OT hours, not including the money for being on call. But at the expense of having a life? I'm already not having a life as it is. Doing that will make life miserable.
Jeff told me that his ward sister is submitting a request to promote him to Senior Staff Nurse (SSN). It came as a surprise coz he just got promoted a few months back. I'm happy for him & so proud of him. Nursing is not a career for me. It's just a job for me to bring home the dough. So I'm happy that he's going somewhere & he isn't a failure like me.
For those not in our line, the ladder goes like this.:
~ Director of Nursing (DON)
~ Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
~ Senior Nurse Manager I (SNM I) or Senior Nurse Clinician I (SNC I) or Senior Nurse Educator I (SNE I)
~ SNM II or SNC II or SNE II
~ Senior Staff Nurse I (SSN I)
~ SSN II
~ Staff Nurse I (SN I)
~ SN II
There's another path which is the path of Advance Practise Nurse aka APN. These are highly specialized nurses in their selected field. There're 2 types of APNs. 1 that can prescribe medicine will be the equivalent of a House Officer (HO) which is the lowest rung of doctor & 1 that can't prescribe medicine will be the equivalent of an ADON. Jeff is aiming towards the 1 that can prescribe medicine in the field of psychiatry.

Over the CNY, I've eaten so much I don't dare to step on the weighing scales. I'm afraid of what I'll see. So it's time to restart my diet, put in some form of exercise to kick start my system once again. Watching Downsize My Pet helps which is what I'm going to do now. :P
