Free Medical Advice?

Here I am, back again for another 4 hours of work. 2 hours actually, considering the current time being almost 10 am. Been reading a novel from the library called Doctored Evidence. I'm 2/3 through it & I'm waiting to see who the bad guys are. It's always a clear cut between the good & bad guys in a novel. Perhaps their actions are more extreme. But don't you wish that good & bad can be so easily distinguished in real life?

Jeff enjoys good working relationships with his nursing & medical colleagues. So he was discussing my condition with his ward House Officer (newly graduated medical students who need to work for 1 yr before being promoted as Medical Officers). He suggested starting me on Klacid 500mg BD (twice a day) for 1 week as my phlegm is green in colour which is highly suggestive of bacterial infection.

I was like, serious? Coz Klacid 500mg is prescribed in my work place too but for an organism that is called mycoplasma which can only be detacted through blood tests. People infected with mycoplasma has symptoms of URTI. Jeff brought back 10 day's supply of Klacid 500mg. But I wonder if I should take it. I hate pills & it took me very bad body aches to even take panadol. & you know what antibiotics do. They disturb the normal flora of your digestive system, hence the potential of diarrhea & stomach upset. Oh well... who ask me to fall sick?
