I'M SO FURIOUS!!!
I should start with the day before (Friday). I was woken up in the wee hours by stomach ache. I had diarrhea. But I can't afford not to go to work. So I turned up at work, took some medicine & continue through the day. Though I had no more bouts of diarrhea, I had to battle with nausea throughout the day. Jeff went to Orchard at that Rolex building which laid the path for today's outcome, which of course, I didn't know at that time. By the time 7.30 pm came around, I was really tired & had body aches. I was supposed to meet some SPC members in Lot 1 but I didn't go. Got home around 8+ pm & slept by 9 pm.
I felt much better when I woke up at 11 am this morning. It was the 10th of June, just 1 month short of our 3rd year anniversary. We went to Marina Sq & walked around before coming to work. Jeff went to play LAN game with his friends. I was in such good mood having enjoyed my day. I told him to go home early as he had to work morning shift tomorrow.
12.30 am the doorbell rang, waking me from sleep. Student wanted to take medicine. After he left, I realised that Jeff's not home yet. So I called him & he said he's talking to a friend & will call me back. 12.50 am he finally called. & he told me the truth.
The 'talk' he went to in Orchard on Friday evening was actually a scam. It was supposed to be from 6.45 pm to 7.45 pm. I was wondering how come he was still there at 9.30 pm when I called him. So he told me that it was actually a "Multi Level Marketing" (MLM) talk. I told him on the spot NOT to join. The situation was like this. On Wed, he received a call saying that he won a 8D 7N trip to Bangkok but he had to go down on Friday. That day itself I already told him that it couldn't be true. Coz if you never enter into any lucky draw, how can you win anything? I told him not to go but he said no harm listening to what they have to say.
Friday evening 9.30 pm, he sounded really excited saying that it's a scheme that you can get hotel rooms all over the world at low rates. You earn commision by getting friends/relatives to book the hotel rooms, charge them the normal rate while you get the room for them at the discounted rate. I should have been more careful & more suspicious. I told him right away that they are NOT to be trusted. They already broke the most important rule to me. HONESTY! They lied that he won a holiday trip to get him to go there when in reality, they're trying to get him to sign up. The membership is $500 straight off & have to pay a certain amount per month to maintain the membership. I told him in NO way is he to join. We hang up shortly.
12.50 am just now. After chatting with his friend, he finally called me back & told me the truth. He paid a deposit with the people in the Rolex building. He was discussing this with a friend who had joined a MLM company before. The friend never did earn money coz he never had the time to commit into selling the products. I've never been so pissed off in my life. No matter what hardcore selling tactics they use, if you refused to give them the money, what can they do? Are they holding you at gunpoint?
Just earlier today Jeff was telling me that he's broke for this month. To think I felt sorry for him & told him that if there's anything he wants to get for the GSS, I'll get it for him. Can't he understand simple English? I told him NO, NO, NO! He decided to cancel after listening to his friend side of the story. His friend said that it'll work but only if you have time to invest in it. What now? Am I a feeble minded woman whose words & advice are nothing but bullshit? He told me that he's going to cancel & they will refund the money. Well, good luck to him getting the money back then! He didn't exactly lie but he did hid the truth from me. I'm so furious! I'm so upset! I'm so hurt! STUPID JEFFREY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi gal...
cool down yah? take time to talk things out yah?hugz...
There is a lot of skills needed to convey msgs betw couples. Couples tend to take each other for granted. Situations of such are common. Men ve high ego, muz tell them things in a more tactful way. This can save u many quarrels.
Well, no point crying over spilled milk rite? U need a lot of effort for effective communication between two people, not to mention a couple. These MLM scams are everywhere, but looking on the bright side, if you tend to travel a lot, it's worth the money.
Let Jeff know how you felt about the whole thing and let it go after that. Don't let it affect the relationship that you'd both painstakingly built up, kae? Good LucK!
Jo, there were reports that some ppl after similar incidents went to CASE to file a complaint and they gotten their money bk. Not sure how accurate isit. U may wanna try enquiring fm CASE.
I sat through one before! And i keep repeating: No $$$, No $$$, No $$$
Even if the sales pitch were honest, these shared accomodations can be quite badly maintained. I had a friend whose family from the UK went to stay in a time-share in M'sia. It was terrible :(
Poor Jo - i hope Jeff works hard to regain your trust.
