Puggy's Progression

We were given homework to do. That's to train Puggy from Mon to Sat. From Mon to Thurs, we have to train him to walk with me. I'm supposed to add in distraction on Fri & Sat. So he's not supposed to be attracted or distracted by the distraction & stay put.

Chris told us to clap hands or use a squeeky toy. We brought the boys' favourite toy ball & a packet of biscuits. Everyone knows that Puggy can't resist food. When we started our training today, we had a situation that put us at a loss of what to do. I stay put at a fixed location while Jeff stood a distance away, trying to get his attention by clapping, stomping his feet, making funny noises & shaking the ball. Puggy didn't even budge. So we whipped out the ultimate last resort: biscuits that he loves. He didn't even move an inch. Thinking that perhaps he couldn't see or smell it, I began walking towards Jeff with Puggy walking beside me. I came as close as 1 metre away from Jeff who's squatting with the biscuit in full view, still, Puggy didn't even gave in to temptation. So I called Chris.

He said that it's a good thing & to continue training with the distraction. Like before, we did that for 30 mins but Puggy didn't run towards Jeff at all. It's almost as if he knows that we're training. Coz on our way home, Jeff overtook me from behind & Puggy wanted to dash up to him even though Jeff was no longer shaking the ball or carrying the biscuit. It's like he knows that training is over.

Hehe. I'm happy with his progression. He's really smart & learns fast compared to Ton Ton. I'm sure if it's Ton Ton, he wouldn't even be able to heel on the 1st day & he'll probably dash for the ball or biscuit. But, becoz he's smart, I'm sure he'll try to find ways around the rules whereas I'm very sure that Ton Ton will follow strictly once he's learnt what he's supposed to do becoz he doesn't dare to break them. I can't wait for the next challenge.
