A Day In Jo's Life

My life revolves around just a few things actually. My hubby, my dogs & our ride. A typical weekday follows this routine. I get home from work before 6.30 pm (if Jeff fetches me) or before 7.30 pm (if I take the bus). My mom would already have fed Ton Ton at 6 pm so Puggy's 8 pm meal would be given by me. Let me tell you more about my dogs.

Ton Ton is on home cooked food (HCF) mixed with some Blue kibbles. He's only given 1 meal a day at 6 pm coz he's already an adult at 1.5 yrs old. I'll brush him to remove dead fur & to prevent matts in his coat. He's fully tray trained so he'll do his biz in the tray by himself, followed by snoozing away somewhere near me. He's a really lazy dog. So I guess you can tell my character just by looking at him. :X

Puggy is on sole kibbles, now gradually adding more Blue than ANF. He's being given 3 meals a day coz he's still a young puppy at 2.5 mths old. I'll add supplements to his last meal of the day. After his dinner, I usually leave him in the playpen & he'll poo within 5 mins. Subsequently, I'll clean his face & skin folds. He's much more active than Ton Ton & will run around non stop until he tires.

I work 5 days but my weekends are burnt too. On Sat, I'll bathe my dogs after sending Jeff to work. That will take several hours. Caring for a dog is not easy. So think carefully before you commit. Don't abandon your pets! I just had Puggy for less than a week so I'm only going to bathe him this coming weekend. He'll be more easier to care for due to his short fur. Here's what the weekly grooming consist.

1stly, Ton Ton has to be brushed through to remove any matts as a wet coat will only make it harder to untangle. I'll then use forceps to pluck his ear hair so it minimises the chance of him getting ear infections as ear hair traps moisture & dirt. His ears will then have to be cleaned by using a small piece of cotton pad wrapped around the forceps soaked with ear cleanser. Next comes the nail care. A lot of people use the nail clipper which Ton Ton hates. So I use pet nail grinder to grind down the nails. Every other week, I'll also shave under his ear flap & his underbelly.

Then comes the showering part. I'll take out the comb, slicker brush, plug in the hair dryer, bring his shampoo, conditioner & towel into the bathroom. The moment I take out my apron (to prevent myself from getting wet), Ton Ton will run off to hide. Yah, he hates water. I'll start off with a multipurpose shampoo, rinse off, followed by whitening shampoo for his white coat. I'll end off with conditioner. Then, I'll wipe him dry with chamois & bring him into the room for blowing dry. That's why I have to prepare beforehand. You won't want to have to chase a wet dog all over the house, will you? Whole process takes 1.5 to 2 hours. Add 1 more hour for Puggy.

Then I'll be super shagged & shower myself. I'll either surf the forum or play my DS until it's time to fetch Jeff back home. Sunday is almost the same thing all over again. I drive Jeff to work, come back home & wash... the van.

It ain't an easy task coz I got to bring 2 buckets containing all the bottles of solutions, the hand held vacumn cleaner, a sitting stool & the ladder. Yes! The ladder! I start off by brushing debris, dead leaves & the sorts from the "backseat" of the van. Then I have to remove the floor mats from the driver & passenger side to brush off dirt. Next is to vacumn the seats. Every other week I have to apply UV protectant to the dashboard, steering wheel & all the black plastic parts in the van. That's just the interior!

I'll donate 20 cents for 1.5 bucket of water (coz my buckets are small). I'll add car wash solution to the half bucket of water & start washing the roof. That's where the ladder comes in. When I'm done washing the exterior of the van, I'll use the full bucket of clean water to rinse off. Every other week, I'll have to wax the paint. Lastly, I'll clean the wiper's rubber blades. If I notice that the windscreen is not repelling water well, I'll have to reapply Rain.X. With UV protectant application & waxing, I'll take 2 hours. Without, usually about 1 hour.

Again, I'll go home, shower & get ready to fetch Jeff back from work. So you see, I'm so shagged everyday. So pardon me if we haven't met in a while.
