Me Too!
Few people know that I have actually passed my basic theory while I was in Poly yr 2. I've always wanted to learn driving but felt that 2k is a lot of money to be forking out. My female cousin who's a few months older than me already gotten her license and all my relatives were asking me when my turn will be. I was reluctant. 1st is the money definitely. 2ndly, my relatives are always comparing me with my cousin coz we're of the same age. People are always praising her for being so pretty, so capable... etc. I felt that I don't have to do things just becoz they compare her with me. 3rdly, I've always felt that it'll be a waste having the license and not having the car to drive.
But when Jeff drives, it made me wish that I can too. Afterall, it's been my desire for yrs. The decision was made in less than a day. Jeff kept encouraging me to go for it. So, 1st, I have more than enough savings to do it. Just that I was saving up for the wedding. Now that we have decided to wait another yr, I can afford to spend the money. 2ndly, I'm doing it becoz I've always wanted to. Let them say whatever they want to. 3rdly, it has been proven that even if I don't own a car, I can always rent 1 once in a while. I guess that when you decide to do or not to do something, you'll always be able to convince yourself that your decision is right. Haha.
It took me a day to decide whether I should take the manual or auto. Everyone knows auto is much easier and have a higher passing rate. But manual is more worth it coz you can drive more than 1 type of vehicle and you never know when you'll be require to call upon the skill of manual transmission driving. Jeff took manual. You know how guys associate driving with daytona in the arcade. Changing gears abruptly to drift the car. Of course he won't do that ever lah. I chose manual. I wasn't very confident.
I took my 1st lesson on Tues. It was alright. I stalled the car 3 times by releasing the clutch when the car is stationary in gear 1. 2 more times by clutching in too late when braking. It was difficult but for the 1st time, I'm not running away. Yet. I usually react to difficulties by giving up. I'm loving the challenge this time and have this desire to make it right. I tend to look down coz I'm not familiar with the pedals and hence taking my eyes off the road and driving off the lane. I'll try my best next time.
