The Boss From Hell Strikes Again!

Well, she's not exactly my boss but she's a level higher than me. She controls the whole clinic & practices dictatorship so I guess it's justified that I use the word 'boss'. It's only my 2nd day back at work & I was already peeved by her antics yesterday.

In the roster, she wrote my shift as morning which means reporting at 7.30 am. 7.15 am, I was just 100m away from the clinic when I received her sms. She said that she was coming in at 8 am. Fine. Later on, I had my head buried with paper work. There she was in her room, reading newspapers & calling everyone (her daughter, her husband, her mom, her aunt) to chit chat. That was fine with me too as long as she doesn't disturb me.

An email was sent to her asking her to provide some information. She forwarded the email to the clinic's email & asked me to reply to the person. When I showed her the finished email, she promptly pointed out that I should put her name instead of mine as "the email was addressed to me". Since she obviously knew that the email was addressed to her, couldn't she type the email herself? Too lazy to lift a finger to type?

She asked my colleague who was on night duty (7.30 pm to 7.30 am) to come early to work so that we can discuss something pertaining to our shifts. My colleague informed me that she would be coming in at 4 pm. When I told this boss of mine, she frozed! Literally! It was a few seconds later that she said that it was "so late!". She muttered under her breath that she had intended to leave early but I heard it. So she called my colleague & told her not to come early & that the meeting will be rescheduled. When my colleague came in the evening, she told me that it was my boss who agreed upon the time 1 week ago! I mean, come on, she's doing night shift, you make her come early to your benefit then changed your mind becoz you wanted to go off early.

Btw, the meeting is to change our current shifts into 1 week all morning & the next week all night so it's easier for HER to plan the roster. Me & my colleague had told her before that it won't work out as we'll be too tired, especially on the morning shift week. Apparently undeterred, she has brought it up again. Imagine having to wake up at 5+ am every day to come to work, reaching home at almost 9 pm & by the time you're in bed it'll be almost 11 pm! & that is if you follow the strict routine of rushing home, shower, get ready your things for the next day & jump into bed.

2nd day back at work. It was again paper work for me & the same routine for her. I stopped my paper work yesterday at 5 pm having worked on it since 9 am. 10 am, her coffee has cooled. She asked our cleaner to heat it up for her in the microwave that's 2 m away from her. & she's too lazy to add her own milk in her now warmed up coffee so she asked our cleaner to do it for her again. She's just sitting in her room, asking for this & that, waiting for it to reach her. All meals have to be brought in from the canteen by the cleaner. Whatever little paper work that she actually did had to be brought into her room by our assistant. Mind you, our clinic is not some 10000 sqm. Paper work is located 3 m from her room.

Once again, she asked me to do some typing for her & send it as an attachment. What's wrong with her hands & fingers? Broken? If that's the case, I truly think that she shouldn't be "working". She asked around & found out that other admin staff are starting work at 8.30 am. Using that as an excuse, she left at 1 pm today coz she came at 8 am for the past 2 days. This is to offset the "extra" time she put in. She has owed our assistant a couple of hours for months! She made our assistant work overtime, refused to sign her timechit as overtime, saying that she'll let her go off early to offset the overtime. That was in March. Until now, our assistant still has more than 8 hours of unclaimed overtime while she herself has much more of 'credit' hours.

In reality, I'm more than happy that she's not around. But I just hate for it to be so unfair. She's getting paid much more for doing less than a fraction of our work. The only work she does is with her mouth. Sucking up to the management & expats coz she "need this job" & getting in their good books ensure her survival here. She's always telling colleagues from other departments how busy the clinic is. Sorry, it's not the clinic. It's me & my colleagues.

My colleague & our cleaner has already fallen prey to her itchy hand. Our cleaner lost $50 while my colleague lost $100. It couldn't be anyone else coz they were the only ones in the clinic. But we don't have solid proof. Both my colleague & our cleaner has seen her taking money from our petty cash. She has never replaced the money she took. Unknown to her, me & my colleague have been monitoring the amount in petty cash. There's nothing we can do other than keep our valuables with us all the time.

Oh God! Please save me! Somebody please help me! She has everything you wouldn't want in a boss. Or in any good person. If she's the boss from hell, then I'm trapped in hell. Is there anything to be done? Sigh... I'm just being foolish. I have many options but I lack the courage to carry them out. If I'm really nasty, I can lodge a complaint against her to the management & tell them that she steals from us. I can leave it all & quit. Instead, I stayed. Opting for the high pay & great benefits over job satisfaction & my mental health.

Hi jo...either u keep silence and tolerate her nonsence...or u bring up the matter to the management! At least she is being watched...i mean is unfair for all of you to do so much work...and she sit there and ordering others ard...since all of u taking pay, why shd u all suffer juz becos she is the BOSS?? And she is not honest too interms of the $$...guess this is not the code of conduct in anywhere...i suggest u complaint or rather inform the matter to yr management...though no evidence or anything like that...but juz wanna them to know such person idling ard in the clinic...welll...

Idling, get a HP, video it down send it to management anonymously. Simple. Get rid of her.
