Heart Wrenching Sorrow
B picked Roy off the streets 1 year ago. Roy is a pure breed pug but is suspected to have been abandoned becoz of his skin condition. B already have other pets at home. His mom has been asking B to rehome Roy from day 1. Somehow, Roy didn't manage to win his mom over. However, perhaps good fortune was never meant to last. B has to go overseas & his mom doesn't want to look after Roy in B's absence. Hence started B's search for somebody who's willing to adopt Roy.
Roy was estimated to be between 2 to 4 years old by the vet & was diagnosed heartworm positive. He received treatment & was hospitalized for the duration of treatment. Furthermore, he was allergic to Science Diet Lamb & Rice, resulting in vast fur loss & was put on a fish based kibbles. He had to be showered twice weekly with a medicated shampoo prescribed by the vet.
It was love at 1st sight for Jeff. Ton Ton was aloof in the beginning while Roy was busy sniffing his ***. Then Ton Ton started to warm up & began going after Roy to sniff his ***. Roy took that as an invitation to play but Ton Ton backed away. It was clear that Roy is trying to assert his dominance. B told us that Roy will mark if he feels threatened by the other dogs in the household & thinks that this behaviour will carry on to the new family. Our concern being that they got along outside but there's no telling Ton Ton's behaviour at home whereby Roy will be a newcomer.
We do have some concerns but we decided to go ahead. We'll be picking Roy up tomorrow. If Roy had been in a family that treats him poorly, I would actually feel glad that Roy will be moving on to a better family. But that isn't the case. I can imagine the scene in my mind. We were passed Roy's belongings & loaded Roy into the car with us. B standing by the gate with Roy staring out of the car window until they're out of each other's sight. It was evident that B loves Roy a lot & that he doesn't really want to give him up. I feel the sorrow for them both. I don't know how I'll be able to actually take Roy from B. I don't feel like going tomorrow but I have to. I feel so sad...

Jay, Roy is at my house liao. If I don't take him, it'll be difficult for B to rehome him since Roy's not obedience trained, toilet trained & has skin problems. We're committed for better or worse. I hope I can housebreak him soon.
