Fruitful Weekend
Jeff completed his 4 nights & has Fri to Sun off. It's been a long time since we've really been together becoz of his frequent afternoon shifts (He comes back after I'm asleep & I leave for work before he wakes up). So on Fri after work, we went to 1 of the furniture place in Sungei Kadut. It was deserted & we just couldn't get into the shopping mode. So we went to Jurong instead to view the shoe cabinet he has taken a liking to. I okayed it & the delivery was scheduled for today, Sat, 12.30 pm.
Finally, our last stop was Alexandra's Ikea as they're having their annual clearance sale. We got 2 soft toy balls for the dogs at $1.80 each, a full length mirror & a black metal frame daybed. It sort of ruin our dark wood look but he loves it so much & it was on offer. So I gave in to his request. Then, we headed to their food stall & got 2 cans of our favourite Pear Cider, a box of Princess Cake (which is surprisingly very nice) & a bottle of lemon herring. We got home, watched disc 1 of "Ah Long Pte Ltd" while drinking the Pear Cider. We slept at 4 am yesterday night.
Woken up by the stupid, irritating dog at 7+ am. I think I went out to cane him 4 or 5 times & each time he'll make noise again shortly after I return to my room. Really fed up with him. I couldn't get back to sleep & got up instead. Our plan was to leave for IMM after the delivery of the new shoe cabinet. I wanted to go early coz the carpark is always full later in the afternoon. Unfortunately, due to the heavy rain, they called & said the delivery will be delayed. They finally came at 4 pm.
As we were driving out, Jeff suddenly remembered that he has been invited to a Malay friend's wedding. We drove to the guy's place but there wasn't anybody. Jeff then called another friend who gave him the address for the bride's place where the reception is being held. We finally arrived at 5+ pm. Dinner settled. It was when we approached the couple when we found out that this was supposed to be the bride's reception. That was why it was being held at the bride's place. The bridegroom's reception is tomorrow at his place! But it was nice seeing him again after such a long time. Food is great & it's been such a long time since I had any real meat. Yum!
We got to IMM at 6+ pm. Due to a stroke of good luck, we managed to get a lot as I spotted a family unlocking their car. Jeff has been looking for a clothes stand. Those old fashioned stand with a few sticks. Ikea's is made from metal & not really what we have in mind. Saw 2 different sizes at Picket & Rail in Walnut. But the colour difference is quite significant & we left without buying. A trip to IMM is never complete without stepping into Daiso. We got quite a couple of things like, lining & charcoal dehumidifier cum deodorizer for the shoe cabinet, dango powder, red bean paste & soya powder for the dango, spikey mats to put in front of the baby gate so Puggy can no longer jump around there & whine for food.
I wanted to browse through a cookbook by the TV chef Ah Hong at Popular. But I ended up buying another book from the same publisher as my TMC soup book. This new book is a TMC recipe book. There're dishes for general health as well as targeted health areas. They make use of the healing effects of TMC herbs & food to create dishes that are good for health. In fact, a lot of the ingredients are non herbs. For example, winter melon, lotus seeds, black beans, lily bulbs etc. They even have recipes for tonic wines which I doubt I'll try. Can't wait to put the book into good use!
Tomorrow, we'll be fixing up the seats for the van which reminds me that I better clean it up a bit. Jeff already sent it for petrol kiosk washing yesterday. Now we just have to clean the interior. I got an inspiration for a decal. I saw a car spotting a boy peeing decal on the fuel tank cover or whatever you call that. I was thinking along the line of a dog marking or pooing. LOL. But where can I get it?
