Postponing HK Trip
While reading the newly bought travel guides for HK, both confirmed that summer which is from June to mid Sept is the worst time to go. Their typhoon season is from July to Sept. It can be very mild ones to very strong ones with hurricanes of 118km/hr & above, with wind speed of 220km/hr. Temp will be in the mid 30s, very much like Singapore. It is also the monsoon season & there'll be lots of rain.
It says that the best time to go is in Autumn, between mid Sept to mid Dec. It's not too cold & there'll be clear skies. But since Jeff's leave has already been plotted, he can't request leave this year. The next nearest time we can go is during winter, between mid Dec this year to Feb next year. It'll be slightly cold with hazy skies. I've been to HK once in sec 2. It was during winter. Although the hotel's signage said that temp is 16 degrees, it certainly felt much colder than that when the wind picked up. It'll be nice. I love cold weathers! Whether you believe it or not, throughout the trip, even in the night, I refused to put on a jacket even though I was shivering like mad & my teeth were chattering.
For July, we'll have to choose another location. I suggested either Bangkok or Indonesia or Malaysia. But for these countries, we'll have to sign up for a tour group. It's too big to be wandering by ourselves. If we want somewhere romantic, I'll want to go Langkawi. If not, I'll want to sign up for a tour that goes to many places.
